2 - Taste in folklore and the Greasy Pole

Image Taste in common folklore, that is, when people dreamed of not having to go hungry, is represented by the Greasy Pole. This pole was slathered in grease or soap and the participants had to climb it in order to claim the prizes (usually a ham, cheese, salami) that was hung from the top. When this structure was raised in the public squares, it caused competition and longing.
