About us
The Taste Museum was created in Frossasco as part of a large scale project for the valorization of the territory and its products.
The Taste Museum was conceived by the Olympic Mountains Tourism Enterprise along with the Municipality of Frossasco, and the Consortium of municipalities of the Pinerolo–Piedmont mountain area with the support of the Province of Torino and the Piedmont Region. The project proposes an ideal voyage through the history of food: from prehistory to present day, with suggestions coming from traditional as opposed to contemporary cuisine; itineraries tracing our acquaintance with various foods along with information on the principal foods of the world, diets… as well as sections dedicated to taste in art, music, cinema, advertising. The Museum has areas for didactic and sensory laboratories on the history and culture of food and the tradition of taste; the International School of Cuisine and the classrooms dedicated to practical application and tasting complete the Museum visit with a “live” experience in taste!
The Museum is managed by the Associazione Amici del Gusto (Friends of Taste Association), established by the municipality of Frossasco, the Pinerolo Piedmont Mountain Consortium and the Province of Torino.
President: Elvi Rossi, Vice president: Mario Mauro, Secretary-Treasurer: Silvano Francia; Museum Director: Ezio Giaj, Vice-Director and Secretary of operations for the Taste Museum : Elisa Ferrara.
We would like to emphasize the importance of the work done by our volunteers without whom the Taste museum would have had difficulty coming to life and, most of all, continuing.
The Associazione Amici del Gusto( Friends of Taste Association) is open to anyone who is interested in the world of eating, in the broadest sense of the word, and who identify themselves with the aims written down in the Association’s by-laws.
It’s not easy for us to sum up in a few words our plans for the future and, in order to understand what we are proposing to do, feel free to take a look at the aims set down in the Association Charter by our founding members
